Ordering & delivery

Ordering and delivery

How long will delivery take?

We pack orders within 2 business days. After dispatch, express usually takes 2 to 5 business days and standard 7 to 10 business days. Long timber and kits go by courier and take 5 to 10 business days. Carrier times vary, so express doesn't mean next day.

Do you offer free shipping?

Yes, on orders of $200 or more that we send by Australia Post. Free shipping doesn't cover heavy items or anything longer than 1 metre, because Australia Post can't carry them. Long items such as beads, track and kits go by courier, and that cost shows at checkout. Brush and seals are the exception: they're coiled, so they still go by Australia Post.

Discount codes can't be combined with free shipping, so if you enter a code the checkout won't offer it. Remove the code and free shipping should apply if your order qualifies. If you're still charged shipping when you shouldn't be, email us at sales@sellaseal.com.au and we'll fix the order.

Why is shipping more on timber, kits and long items?

Beads, track and kits are long (up to 3 metres), so they travel by courier rather than parcel post, which costs more. The cost is much the same for one kit as for several, so ordering together helps. If the shipping at checkout looks wrong, email us and we'll check it.

Where is my parcel?

We email tracking once your order ships, so check your junk folder and make sure you gave an email address at checkout. Kits and long items can travel in separate parcels with separate tracking. If tracking hasn't moved, or says delivered when nothing has arrived, check with neighbours and your local post office, then email us. We'll chase the carrier and sort out a replacement if the parcel is lost.

Can you deliver to a PO box?

Long items (beads, track, kits and long seals) can't go to a PO box. For small items, ask us first.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Yes, if it hasn't been dispatched. Email us as soon as you can and we can add items, swap products (for example a 1 hour for a 4 hour epoxy) or cancel for a refund. Once an order is booked for shipping it can't be changed, but we can send extra items separately.

Can I pick up my order?

We're an online store and ship direct to you. Collection is by arrangement only, so email us before you order and please don't turn up unannounced.

Is there a shop or stockist near me?

We sell online only and ship Australia-wide. A few independent shops carry a small part of our range, but not every item. See our stockists for the list. The easiest way to get everything you need is to order here.

Can I get a tax invoice?

Yes. A tax invoice comes with every order. If you need another copy, email us at sales@sellaseal.com.au.

Returns, samples & contact

Returns, samples and contact

What is your returns and refund policy?

Our refund policy runs for 30 days. We don't accept change-of-mind returns. If an item is faulty, damaged or wrong, we'll replace it or refund it at our cost. The full details are in our refund policy.

My order arrived damaged, short, wrong or leaking. What do I do?

Email us at sales@sellaseal.com.au with your order number and a photo. We'll replace or refund faulty, damaged, short or wrong items at our cost and deal with the carrier ourselves.

Can I get a sample?

Yes. Samples are free; you just pay the postage. If a sample hasn't turned up, let us know and we'll follow it up.

Is there a phone number?

We don't publish a phone number. Email us at sales@sellaseal.com.au or book a call at a time that suits you. Our replies sometimes land in junk, so check there if you haven't heard back.

Where can I find Safety Data Sheets?

Safety Data Sheets are linked on each product page. If you need a current copy for a job, email us and we'll send it.

Epoxy & the gun

Epoxy and the gun

How long is the epoxy workable, and when can I sand and paint?

  • 1 hour epoxy: about 5 minutes working time at about 20°C, and you can sand it in about an hour.
  • 4 hour epoxy: about 20 to 30 minutes working time, and it cures in about 4 hours. Large fills take longer.

Both are slower in cold weather and faster in the heat, so mix small amounts on a warm day.

What are the mix ratios?

  • 4 hour pots: 3 parts base to 1 part activator, by volume. You measure and mix these yourself.
  • 4 hour tube: 3:1. The gun portions it for you.
  • 1 hour tube: 1:1. The gun portions it for you.
  • Epoxy Wood Stabiliser: 2 parts base to 1 part activator.

Don't change the ratio to speed up or slow down the cure.

Why is the activator tub or one stabiliser bottle only part full?

That's normal. The 4 hour pots mix at 3:1 and the stabiliser at 2:1, so there's less activator than base, but both parts come in the same size container. If a part is genuinely empty or has leaked in transit, email us a photo and we'll replace it.

Do I need a gun?

The 1 hour and 4 hour tubes need our Heavy Duty Epoxy Gun, which pushes out both parts in the right ratio. The 4 hour pots don't need a gun because you mix them by hand. Some starter packs include the gun, so check the product page to see what's in each pack.

Which plungers do I use for the 1 hour and 4 hour tubes?

Every gun comes with a plunger swap kit. Make sure the plungers match your tube:

  • 1 hour tube (1:1): 35 mm and 31 mm plungers with the U-shape snap-on.
  • 4 hour tube (3:1): 41 mm and 21 mm plungers with the V-shape snap-on, with the 41 mm on the wide side.

If your gun arrived without the swap kit, email us and we'll sort it out.

Can I use my own twin-cartridge gun?

Both our tubes are 400 ml dual cartridges, one at 1:1 and one at 3:1. We recommend our Heavy Duty Epoxy Gun because it's set up for both. Guns made for other cartridges may not fit or may not portion the mix correctly.

What's in the epoxy starter packs?

Starter packs bundle the epoxy with the gun, and some also include the Epoxy Wood Stabiliser. Contents differ between packs, so check each product page, for example the 1 Hour Starter Pack and the DT Epoxy Starter Pack.

Do I need the Epoxy Wood Stabiliser as well?

Use the Epoxy Wood Stabiliser if any rot or moisture remains in the timber. If you've cut out all the rot and the timber is clean and dry, the epoxy can go straight on.

How long do I wait after the stabiliser before applying epoxy?

Wait 12 hours after applying the stabiliser before you apply the epoxy.

How deep can I fill, and can I build up in layers?

Mix small amounts. For deeper fills, build up in layers, and splice in new timber for large voids.

Can I tint the epoxy, and can I paint it?

The epoxy sets a tan colour and paints well once sanded. We don't have a tested method for tinting it. Some customers add oxide tints while mixing, at their own risk, so test a small batch first.

What can I use the epoxy on?

It's made for timber: window sills, sashes, frames, architraves, weatherboards, fascia and door frames. It's also good for filling worn screw holes (press it in with a spatula). It isn't designed for marine use or heated environments.

How long does the epoxy keep?

Unopened, it keeps for 2 years at room temperature. Once opened, put the cap back on tightly and use it within about 2 weeks, sooner in warm weather.

How hard is cured epoxy?

Cured epoxy is hard enough to sand and shape, with a little flexibility to allow for normal timber movement. It's less flexible than silicone or gap filler. Technical data is on each product page.

Sash Glaze & glass

Sash Glaze and glass

How do I apply Sash Glaze?

Make sure the timber is clean and dry, and prime any bare timber in the rebate first as good practice. Mask the sash and glass to set your putty line, then apply a solid bead with a caulking gun (an electric gun makes it easier). Blade it smooth with a putty knife before it sets, then remove the tape. Working with the sash flat on a bench, as in our videos, gives the best finish.

Sash Glaze is hard to squeeze out or tool. Any tips?

Sash Glaze is thick and tacky by design. In cold weather, stand the tube in a tub of warm water before use so it flows more easily. An electric caulking gun helps, and a little metho-and-water mix or window cleaner on the knife gives a smoother finish.

Can Sash Glaze go over old putty?

Yes, over sound, well-adhered putty. Remove any loose or failed putty first. If you're replacing the glass, remove all the old putty.

When can I paint over Sash Glaze?

After 24 hours, or longer in cold or humid weather. Water-based primer and paint are fine. Paint it to protect it from the sun, as you would traditional putty.

How much Sash Glaze do I need?

Roughly one tube per sash of about 700 x 700 mm. Allow extra for wide rebates, and masking tape helps cut waste.

How long does Sash Glaze keep?

Sash Glaze is a hybrid polymer, so it keeps for up to 12 months from manufacture, opened or not. Check the use-by date on the tube. Once opened, use it within about a week.

How do I remove Sash Glaze, for example if the glass breaks?

It's designed to hold firmly, so removal takes some work. Cut along each side of the bead and chisel it out; it usually comes away in one bead.

Do you supply glass or double glazing?

No. We supply repair, draught sealing and glazing products, but we don't supply or install glass or double glazing. For vacuum insulated glass, contact our partner glass business, VIGA (vacglass.com.au).

How does the secondary glazing film work?

The secondary glazing film fits on the inside of the window and is clear. It needs a flat surface that doesn't move, and it sits with a gap between the film and the glass by design. It generally doesn't suit aluminium frames or uneven sashes.

Seals & draught kits

Seals and draught kits

What's in the double hung draught sealing kit?

The Draught Sealing Kit Double Hung Window is for sash windows that run on cords. It includes:

  • White primed staff bead: 2 x 2 m and 2 x 1 m
  • White primed parting bead: 2 x 2 m and 1 x 1 m
  • Twin fin brush seal for the beads and meeting rail
  • Track for the meeting rail
  • A 10 m hank of 6 mm sash cord

Fitting instructions come in the box. Hardware and weights are sold separately. For odd-sized windows, email us about a custom order.

My windows have spiral balances, not cords. Can you help?

Our kits are designed for windows on sash cords, and we don't sell spiral or spring balances. We can make up a custom order of beads and brush to suit your window sizes, so email us your measurements.

What suits casement and awning windows?

Our casement and awning kit uses a white offset seal with a twin fin brush, pinned to the frame so the sash closes against it. You don't need to take the window apart. Alternatively, you can route carrier track and brush into the sash, or use compression seal in a slotted bead.

What do you recommend for an external door?

Fit seals along the top and sides, and a brush bottom door seal for the gap underneath. Our standard door kit uses a PVC offset seal fixed to the frame, and the premium door kit uses compression seal in slimline hardwood beads.

Do your seals suit aluminium or steel windows, sliding doors or bifolds?

Our seals are made for timber windows and doors only. We don't have a seal for aluminium or steel frames or sliding glass doors. If you have a timber frame with an unusual rebate, send us photos and we'll advise.

Which brush size should I choose?

  • 8.5 mm: the standard size for our staff and parting beads.
  • 5.5 mm: narrow gaps.
  • 11.5 mm: gaps of about 8 to 9 mm, such as bifolds.

The brush comes in white or brown and slots into carrier track. For roll sizes, see the product page.

What router bit and track do I need for the brush?

Use an 8 mm router bit to cut the channel for the carrier track, then clean out all dust before fitting the track. Track comes in 1 metre lengths, in white or brown, and you can join lengths end to end. Every brush we sell fits the track.

What sizes and colours does the compression seal come in?

We stock one size, the A10 compression seal, in black, white and brown. It's sold by the metre and ships as one continuous length. The D-Slot seal is a narrower alternative.

How do I fit the compression seal?

The seal's foot presses into a kerf-cut groove between 2.70 mm and 3.00 mm wide, and the groove holds it, so no glue is needed. Cut the groove in your own bead, or use our Staff Bead for A10 Compression Seal, which has the groove built in.

How does V-Seal work?

V-Seal is a self-adhesive strip that folds into a V to close the gap. Stick it to a clean, smooth, dry surface with the V facing outside, and press it down firmly along its length. If a roll arrives curled or doesn't seal, send us a photo and we'll help.

Do you sell a stick-on brush seal?

No. Our brush needs a routed track to sit in. For a self-adhesive option, use V-Seal on windows and doors, or the brush bottom door seal under a door.

Beads, cord & hardware

Beads, cord and hardware

What sizes are your staff and parting beads?

Our staff beads are 15 mm thick and come 20 mm or 25 mm deep. Our parting beads are 8 mm thick and 25 mm wide. Both are primed white and have a track built in for the brush, which is sold separately.

What lengths do beads come in, and can they be cut?

Loose beads come in 3 metre lengths and can be cut. Our kits use shorter pre-cut lengths, so check the kit listing.

What sash cord do you sell?

Our sash cord is 6 mm waxed cotton with a poly core, in 10 metre and 100 metre lengths. As a guide, 10 metres does one standard double hung window with some to spare.

Do you sell sash weights?

Yes, we sell lead sash weights. If new glass has made your sashes heavier, our sash window weight calculator works out how much weight you need. They're heavy, so shipping costs more than for other items.

Which pulleys do you sell?

Our sash pulleys are sold as singles, and a double hung window needs four. Dimensions and finishes are on the product page.

Will hardware in different finishes match?

Our hardware comes in several finishes, including polished brass, antique brass and chrome. Some finishes can take up to two weeks to ship. Items from different makers can look slightly different, antique brass especially, so buy matching pieces in one order where you can.

Can I lock my sash window?

Yes. Our fitch fastener includes a hex key grub screw so you can lock it.

Restrictors & safety

Window restrictors and safety

How does the angle lock restrictor work?

The angle lock restrictor stops the bottom sash opening past a set height. It resets automatically every time you close the window, and you press the release to open the sash fully. Fit one on each side, about 100 mm above the top of the closed bottom sash. They're sold as single units, so you need two per window.

How have the restrictors been tested?

  • Tested to ASTM F2090 (2008, 2010, 2013 and 2017), the standard for window fall prevention devices for young children.
  • Load capacity of 350 N verified to BS EN 14351-1:2006 by a UKAS accredited laboratory (test report).
  • A traditional timber sash window fitted with these devices passed PAS 24:2016 security testing, Wintech report R17136 (test report).

We don't make any claim about NCC or BCA compliance. Check with your builder or certifier.

Where are the fitting instructions and dimensions?

Are restrictors a substitute for supervision?

No. Restrictors help protect young children from accidental falls, but they don't replace supervision. Keep them engaged unless the window is needed for emergency escape, and never padlock them.

Do you sell a lockable restrictor?

Yes, we list a lockable window restrictor with a child-proof lock and striker plates. It's sold as a single unit. See the product page for finishes and stock.
